When is the commission paid to the broker
A commission is owed to the real estate agent only and solely after the conclusion of a preliminary or final contract. Nothing is due before the deal is concluded, which means the service is only paid for if a deal is made. You have no obligations and owe nothing if no deal is concluded.

For a concluded rental agreement, the commission is typically half or one full month's rent.
What is the commission for an agent when buying/selling a property?
